Classic distortion. Stomp it and go.
First Order delivers DS-1–style distortion with three straightforward controls: Tone, Distortion, and Level. Back off the Distortion for crunchy rhythm parts or turn it up for saturated power chords and leads with bite.
My favorite setting is Tone around 10 o’clock and Distortion around 2–3 o’clock. That keeps the top end in check while leaving plenty of grit. Set Level to taste.

Sound & Controls
First Order is a classic DS-1–style distortion that gives chords bite from the first pick attack. Back off the Distortion for rough-edged rhythm parts, or turn it up for a thicker sound that gives power chords more weight and single-note leads more grit.
Start with an amp sound you already like. Play an open chord and a palm-muted riff, then switch the pedal on and off as you adjust the controls. If the top end sounds sharp through a bright guitar or amp, roll back the Tone. If the notes in a chord start to blur together, ease off the Distortion and try the same chord again.
Tone shapes the top end. Turn it down for a smoother sound or up when a riff needs more edge.
Distortion controls how much grit and saturation the pedal adds. Lower settings work well for rhythm crunch, while higher settings give riffs and leads a denser sound.
Level sets the output volume. Start by matching the volume with the pedal off, then adjust it to suit the part.
