Your main drive, not just another boost
King’s Road is designed to serve as the core overdrive sound in a rig.
At minimum Gain, the pedal is clean. Turn it up and it moves through edge-of-breakup textures before reaching a crisp, gritty maximum. It stays firmly in light-gain territory rather than becoming a full distortion pedal.
Its response is straightforward and natural. King’s Road does not noticeably smooth or compress the attack, but it also is not designed to exaggerate touch sensitivity.
Its tonal direction is inspired by the low-gain character players associate with the classic Bluesbreaker pedal, but King’s Road is not presented as a clone or exact recreation.
Built for always-on use
King’s Road does not impose the pronounced EQ shift associated with some overdrive designs. Instead, it preserves more of the guitar and amplifier’s existing tonal balance.
This makes it particularly useful as an always-on foundation. Set the Volume around unity for a consistent main drive sound, then use the guitar’s volume control to clean it up.
The Volume control also provides output above unity for pushing an amplifier or the next pedal in the chain. King’s Road stacks comfortably before or after many other drive pedals.
The Tone control provides a straightforward sweep: counterclockwise for a darker sound and clockwise for more brightness.

Single-coils generally keep the pedal closer to its cleaner, edge-of-breakup side. Humbuckers push the circuit noticeably harder and produce a grittier result.
Neither response is inherently better. The pedal reflects the output and character of the instrument feeding it.

King’s Road is rooted in the low-gain overdrive tradition associated with blues, but it is not limited to blues players.

Hand assembled and individually tested
Each King’s Road is hand assembled by Chris in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
The pedal uses through-hole components on a professionally manufactured PCB. Every completed unit is individually tested before leaving the Pendletone bench.
Every production King’s Road is also hand dated, individually serialized, and signed by the builder.

Four-year limited warranty
King’s Road includes a four-year limited warranty for the original purchaser, beginning on the original purchase date. Proof of purchase is required.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by abuse, incorrect power, or environmental exposure.
The customer is responsible for shipping the pedal to Pendletone Effects for evaluation. For an approved claim, Pendletone Effects will repair or replace the pedal at its discretion and cover shipping back to the customer.

Is King’s Road a Bluesbreaker clone?
No. Its tonal direction is inspired by the light-gain, edge-of-breakup character associated with the classic Bluesbreaker pedal, but Pendletone does not present King’s Road as an exact circuit recreation.
